The Costume Institute Gala or Met Gala or Met Ball after the Metropolitan Museum of Art, took place yesterday - and brought together the Arts & Entertainment worlds with well known celebrities, actors, models, singers and designers.
Each year there is fierce competition to claim a spot and only approximately 700 make the cut. First held in 1946, the event has become fashion's equivalent of the Oscars. This year's theme Art of the In-between paying tribute to Rei Kawakubo/Commes des Garçons.
At m-use we have been inspired and have paired some of our favourite designer gowns with some of our wallets.
Alison Williams - Diane von Furstenberg | Lily-Rose Depp - Chanel | Dakota Johnson - Gucci
Add a pop of colour to your look with one of our versatile wallets inspired by Lily-Rose, who we feel owned the Met Gala in an edgy fuchsia pink Chanel gown with delicately draped silver camellias which added the perfect finishing touch to this elegant ensemble.
The Elizabeth - fuchsia pink
Gigi Hadid - Tommy Hilfiger
This plush pink asymmetrical gown with a full tulle skirt to one side and a structured mini-dress on the other, finished with fishnet holdups. Plush pinks, beiges, naturals, nudes are a perfect neutral colour that compliment and work with most colours. Plush pinks beside white and creams colours in the summer and accompanied with emerald greens, blacks and navy's in the winter.
Stella Maxwell - H&M | Kendal Jenner - La Perla | Kylie Jenner - Versace
The "nearly naked" semi-sheer gowns proved a popular choice with the Jenner sisters and Stella Maxwell, all equally leaving very little to the imagination. All eyes on our shimmery metallic wallets which will add a bit of luxury to your outfit.
Jennifer Lopez - Valentino
Jennifer Lopez was the epitome of 60's hollywood glamour in a powder blue chiffon gown. She kept her look effortless & elegant with soft hues of blue. Powder blues & baby pinks are huge this summer, think faded jeans, white t'shirt and tennis shoes great for heading off on a day trip.
Priyanka Chopra - Ralph Lauren
Tweeters didn't stay buried in the trenches with their opinions on this piece. Dramatic collar, cinched in belted waist and flowing train add a refreshing take on the classic trench coat. Extra points given for the chunky don't mess with me boots. Structured and de-constructed flowing duster coats are a must have for the season. Why not add a zeisty orange wallet to your trench & one of our silk neck scarves.
The Elizabeth - orange
